Basic steps to take when cleaning your replica jewelry

Jewelry for a lady is like cars for a man. Women love every single piece of the collection, be it a replica Cartier ring, Bvlgari replica watch, or Dior replica bracelet. However, if not cared for properly, replica jewelry might tend to lose its initial look, and that can be terrible for a woman. Here you have a full guide on how to take care of your replica jewelry correctly so that you can enjoy its beauty for many years to come.

Utensils you are going to need for the cleaning and maintaining process

I trust “old but gold” cleaning techniques. Even though many modern cleaning solutions and tools are available, I mostly use traditional ones, as these never let me down. So, here is what I suggest having:

-toothbrush;

-lemon, or lemon juice, vinegar, hand soap;

-alcohol that you will dilute with water;

-microfiber Clean cloth.

Probably, you won’t need all these tools at once. You’ll interchange them according to the material and design specifics of your jewelry. However, it’s better to have them all available at your home.

Step one: Clean it when it needs to be cleaned, and not when the Internet says you should

Unlike many internet sources, I won’t tell you to clean your jewelry once a month, or something like that. I think jewelry should be cleaned once every three months unless the circumstances don’t require otherwise. Also, you might need to clean it more or less seldom, considering how frequently you wear your jewelry. So, the frequency is up to you, in fact, and up to your gut feeling.

Remember that fake jewelry is different from genuine, and requires other cleaning and maintenance techniques. If your replica jewelry comes with a “gold” label, it doesn’t mean it’s real gold. So, no need to clean it as real gold.

Step two: set those with gemstones apart from those without gemstones

These two kinds of jewelry will need different cleaning approaches. If the jewelry IS with stones, you have to be cautious with what solution you apply for the cleaning. If you use alcohol, dilute it consistently with water. The idea is that concentrated solutions can penetrate deeply under the gemstones, loosening the glue under them. You can intuit the result: the gemstones will soon fall apart.

For such kinds of jewels, you should better avoid long-lasting liquid cleaning. The interaction with any sort of liquid should be as quick as possible so that the fluid doesn’t get deep under the gemstone.

Step three: toothbrush: indispensable

This tool is great to clean crevices around the gemstones and hard-to-attain surfaces between bracelet links, for example. Make sure to buy a toothbrush specifically for this purpose. You don’t want your old toothbrush to leave all its residue on the jewelry.

Step four: lemon juice- reliable fake jewelry friend

Lemon juice is a great oxide remover. In addition, it is pretty soft with replica materials and is unlikely to produce any side effects. If the jewelry looks “too tired” because of the passage of time, add a little baking soda to the juice and you will see the marvel it produces. I couldn’t find better cleaning solutions, especially for silver jewelry.

Step five: vinegar to make chains shiny

With the help of a toothbrush, vinegar has a spectacular effect on chains. A bonus here: after cleaning the jewelry with vinegar, I recommend you apply a drop of olive oil to it. Rub it gently and you will see a great shiny effect. But, always make sure to wash the oil off.

Step six: traditional soap and warm water

With soap cleaning, you will not only have great-looking jewelry but also great-smelling ones. Remember to not expose your accessories to too much water. In this context, you can mix warm water with a soap solution (baby shampoo will also do) and apply it gently using a sponge, for instance.

Step seven: Wipe it down daily

Use your clean cloth to wipe your jewelry accurately after each cleaning process. Make sure you dry it completely, paying attention to hardly-attainable surfaces. You don’t need a solution or water to remain there. Another hint here is to wipe your jewelry on a daily basis after you wear it. This is a protective measure allowing your replica jewelry to look new for longer periods of time.
